Dovetail Joint Creator

This gadget can be used to create toolpath for creating dovetails joints using regular end mills rather than dedicated tools. If you haven't done so already you should make sure you have created markers for where you wish the dovetails to be. This can be achieved using the dovetail detection gadget. The dovetails will always be created on the left hand side of the markers, so it may be necessary to reverse the direction of some markers. To use the gadget you will need to supply the following information:

This gadget is based on Bill Young's EdgeTailer software.
Thickness of dovetail: inches Enter the thickness of the dovetail. Typically this will equal the thickness of the material.
Angle: degrees The interior angle as seen in the diagram.
Start Depth: inches Depth at which we wish to start cutting
Cut depth: inches Cutting depth.
Cut Allowance: inches Allowance added to all sides cutting of joint. (Note: In this form bigger allowance = looser joint.)
Marker Layer:    
Name of layer containing markers.
